• Analysis of Nighthawks

    Hello everyone,

This week, we worked on the analysis and interpretation of Nighthawks:

    Group 1:

    Monday, March 20th

    (the twentieth)

    It’s spring today!

    Analysis of the painting ‘Nighthawks’

The characters are seen from the outside, as if they were in an aquarium. There isn’t any door to get in nor get out so the effect is to separate the spectators and the characters.

The man and the woman look unhappy.

[Attention: look = paraitre, sembler et look like = ressembler à]

They look like a couple or they seem to know eachother.

    Group 2:

    Tuesday, March 21st

    (the twenty-first)

    Analysis of the painting ‘Nighthawks’

The characters are seen from the outside, as if they were in an aquarium.

There is no door to get in or get out. The effect is to separate the characters and the spectators.

The couple in the painting looks sad. We suppose they feel unhappy.

The two men are wearing the same suits and hats so they may be co-workers/workmates. They may work in the same company.
