Hello everyone,

Today, we revised 'rules at school' vocabulary.

Then, we talked about phonetics: ch and sh.

Finally, we expressed obligation and prohibition at home and in class.

Here is your lesson:

Phonetics

-       “ch” is pronounced /tʃ/ : example: chat

-       “sh” is pronounced /ʃ/  : example: shout

OBLIGATION/PROHIBITION

-       To express obligation, we use “must”.

Example: In class, I must listen to the teacher and at home, I must brush my teeth.

-       To express prohibition, we use “mustn’t”.

Example: In class, I mustn’t pass notes and at home, I mustn’t shout.

Exercise: translate in English:
1. Je dois écrire ma leçon.

2. Il doit écouter ses parents à la maison.

3. Nous ne devons pas manger de hamburger en classe !

4. Vous devez respecter les élèves.

5. Elle ne doit pas se battre avec sa sœur.
6. Tu ne dois pas utiliser ton téléphone portable dans le collège et tu dois aller te coucher à 21h à la maison.

Attention: must et mustn't sont toujours suivis par une base verbale (un verbe non conjugué).
