What is going to happen? (Oliver’s punishment)

Oliver asked for more food.

The old man was angry / furious / mad at Oliver.

We think Oliver is going to be punished.

For example, we guess he is going to have no food for two days.

We imagine the old man is going to hit him.

è    Actually, Oliver is going to be hanged.

Oliver Twist: extract n°2: the thief

The judge was reading the punishment when the shopkeeper entered the courtroom.

-       Prétérit be + V-ing

-       Prétérit simple: V + ED ou verbe irrégulier.
