• Hello everyone,

    Yesterday was an English and a geography lesson as well.

    Indeed, we studied maps of English-speaking countries.

    Before all that, I gave you back your English tests and we corrected some exercises.

    Here is the document we used:

    Homework for tomorrow, Thursday 8th:

    - sign the test with your parent(s)

    - finish correcting the test

    - colour the flags (rien de plus simple, il suffit de regarder l'en-tête du blog!)

    - learn the lesson: the capital of ..... [country] is ... [city].

    Yesterday, we learnt how to order food at a diner. 

    We also wrote the food categories on your document: entrees, sides, breakfast, eggs, drinks/beverages and desserts.

    Ordering food at a diner

     

    -       (customer/client) Hi, I’m really hungry. I’d like scampi, fries, toffee pudding and diet cola, please. How much is it?

     

    -       (waiter/waitress) It’s seventeen dollars and sixty-five cents all together ($17.65).

     

    Exercise: Make one or two conversations following the example of the lesson. Change the food, the price and express how hungry you are: 

    Correction:

     

    -       I’m extremely hungry. I’d like two hot-dogs, two portions of toffee pudding, a waffle and five donuts.

    How much is it, please?

     

    -       It’s fifty two dollars and ten cents all together ($52.10).

    Today, we watched the first part of an extract from the movie "Falling down" starring Michael Douglas.

    We described the situation (who, where, when, how, what, why...).

    Then, we supposed what would happen next.

    -       The scene takes place at a diner. The manager is named Rick. There is also Sheila, the waitress and a customer/client.

    -       The customer wants to order breakfast but it’s too late because it’s 11:33. Breakfast is served until half past eleven/eleven thirty (11:30).

     

    Suppose what will happen:

    -       I guess/I imagine/ I suppose/ I believe/ I think the customer will take a gun out of his bag.

    -       The customer may become furious.

     

    Pour supposer:
